To build numbered motorcycle frames and/or kits, you will need to get the vehicle manufacturer license process completed. You will then have a variety of options from building frames with numbers that will be accepted as frame numbers by all DMV and that will even be used as actual final VIN numbers for special construction motorcycle by many state DMVs.
You will also be able to sell kit choppers and trikes and even build and sell complete kit motorcycles with certification labels that will be manufacturer motorcycles when completed.
And of course you will also be able to build and sell complete motorcycles with 17 digit VIN numbers that are legitimate and legal manufacturer motorcycles just like the big companies!
This all applies to frames or kits for trailers or LSVs as well. If you build trailers or trailer kits or you wish to build and sell trailers, trailer kits or LSV kits (low speed vehicles, a.k.a. street-legal golf carts) this is thee way to go and it gives you lots of power and options.
This license process typically takes about 2 to 4 weeks. When completed there is then a 60 waiting period before you are to issue your first VIN numbers on complete motorcycles (or trailers or LSVs) but you will be able to build and number and sell DMV-acceptable motorcycle frames with MCOs right away. I will get you all of your documentation including your VIN code system and ALL of the information you will need or want.
For frames and kits you will issue actual MCOs that will be accepted by all DMVs in America and throughout the world. Some DMVS will even use that MCO and your 17 digit VIN-based frame number as the actual VIN number on the complete motorcycle.
On your own complete motorcycles you may wish to go ahead and convert your MCOs into titles in your name so that you are providing your customers with a state-issued title. This is often easier for your customers because some poorly-trained DMV employees and many complex state laws throughout the country can complicate the simplicity of converting an MCO from a small, unknown manufacturer into a state title. If you provide your customers with a state-issued title though, they should have no problems at any DMV in any state.
FIGURING OUT YOUR VIN NUMBERS / FRAME NUMBERS
In order to figure out the VIN number for a given vehicle, simply use the VIN code sheet that I will supply you with and the complete easy instructions that I will get you as well. Without all of this -- including my special tools that I get you, figuring out your VIN numbers will be extremely difficult. If you code your VIN numbers wrong they will get rejected by DMVs and you will find yourself in an extremely embarrassing situation with your customers.
